Tara Ohrtman (’21), Christie Wan (’21), Kriti Jha (L.L.M candidate) and Katelyn Masket (’21), in collaboration with Accountability Counsel, contributed to research that an environmental conservation program in Myanmar’s Tanintharyi Region, which was imposed without the input of indigenous Karen communities, must be re-evaluated and redesigned to reflect the rights under international law of the Karen communities to exercise free prior and informed consent (FPIC) when their ancestral lands are threatened.
