This white paper provides a roadmap for state supreme courts, as the regulators of the legal profession, to reconsider the role of state bar associations as part of a larger re-structuring of the regulation of the legal services market. The paper critiques the traditional delegation of regulatory authority from state supreme courts to state bars and discusses several options for a modern regulatory approach within the legal market.
