Amy Tovar, JD ’03, Promoted to Chief Legal Officer of the San Francisco Giants

Amy Tovar was elevated to chief legal officer of the San Francisco Giants in mid-2025. She oversees the club’s legal affairs, including corporate governance, media rights, labor and employment, intellectual property, litigation, and real estate.

She joined the Giants’ legal team as deputy general counsel and became general counsel in 2020. She has played a central role in major transactions for the organization, including the Oracle Park naming rights deal and various investor capital initiatives. Tovar has served as a lecturer at Stanford Law School, teaching sports law.

Before joining the Giants, Tovar served as associate general counsel in the U.S. Department of Transportation under the Obama administration and practiced as a litigator at Munger, Tolles & Olson.
