Ashley Robertson, JD ’16, Named Director of Supreme Court Advocacy Project

Ashley Robertson was named the first director of the Supreme Court Advocacy Project (SCAP), a newly created office dedicated to improving the advocacy of federal public defenders at the U.S. Supreme Court. Approved by the Judicial Conference of the United States, the project was created as part of a years-long effort to close the advocacy gap between federal prosecutors and indigent criminal defendants before the Supreme Court.

Robertson joins SCAP from the Office of the Solicitor General, where she served as an assistant to the solicitor general and argued three cases before the Supreme Court. A former clerk to Justice Elena Kagan, Robertson worked in Stanford Law School’s Supreme Court Litigation Clinic. After her clerkship, she practiced at O’Melveny & Myers before joining the Office of the Solicitor General. SL
