Last November, Senior Lecturer in Law Margaret “Meg” Caldwell ’85 was appointed by the California secretary for natural resources to the Marine Life Protection Act (MLPA) Blue Ribbon Task Force for the north coast study region. This is Caldwell’s fourth appointment—she served on the task forces for the central, north central, and south coast study regions. The task force is currently overseeing a regional science- and stakeholder-driven process to develop alternative marine protected area (MPA) proposals for state waters  and will recommend a preferred MPA array for the north coast later this year.
