JENNIFER KING, AN INFORMATION PRIVACY SCHOLAR, JOINED STANFORD LAW SCHOOL in May as director of consumer privacy at the Center for Internet and Society (CIS).

“Data privacy, and consumer privacy specifically, continue to be critically important,” says CIS Faculty Director and Professor of Law Barbara van Schewick. “Jennifer’s expertise in technology, human-computer interaction, and public policy will help CIS advance the state of interdisciplinary privacy research and contribute to public debates on these crucial issues.”

Prior to completing her masters and doctorate in information science at the University of California, Berkeley School of Information, King was a co-director of the Center for Technology, Society, and Policy, a graduate student-led research center at UC Berkeley. Earlier, she was a privacy researcher at the Samuelson Law, Technology, and Public Policy Clinic at Berkeley Law. Before entering academia, she worked as a product manager for several internet companies, most notably Yahoo!.
