Dave Anderson, JD ‘90, Sworn in as U.S. Attorney for The Northern District of California
After being nominated by President Donald Trump last August and confirmed by the Senate on January 2, David Anderson was sworn into office as U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of California on January 15.
Anderson brings a strong background of federal prosecution and corporate law to the job. From 1998 to 2002, he worked at the U.S. Attorney’s Office as a prosecutor. In 2008 he returned to the office and served for two more years as First Assistant U.S. Attorney. In the private sector, Anderson worked for several large law firms, including the San Francisco office of Sidley Austin LLP, representing corporate clients including Wells Fargo & Co., Facebook Inc., and AT&T Inc.
Early in his career, Anderson also served as a law clerk to U.S. Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy from 1991 to 1992.
As U.S. Attorney, Anderson now oversees federal criminal cases and civil cases involving the federal government, specifically in Northern California. He will lead approximately 130 lawyers across the San Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose offices.
