At its 51st annual meeting in November 2021, the American Society for Legal History (ASLH) announced two new fellowships honoring distinguished scholars who have made extraordinary contributions to the field of legal history. Two of those fellowships will honor SLS faculty including Lawrence Friedman, Marion Rice Kirkwood Professor of Law, and Robert Gordon, professor of law, emeritus. They will be awarded every other year to early career scholars selected as fellows of the J. Willard Hurst Summer Institute in Legal History.

Additionally, Robert Gordon was elected as a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences (AAA&S), which honors exceptional scholars, leaders, artists, and innovators engaged in advancing the public good.
