William B. Gould IV, Charles A. Beardsley Professor of Law, Emeritus, was appointed chairman of the California Agricultural Labor Relations Board as of March 2014 by Governor Jerry Brown. Gould, an expert in labor law, authored an early textbook on the subject—now in its fifth edition.
He served on the National Labor Relations Board, first as an attorney and later as chairman from 1994 to 1998. As a member of the National Academy of Arbitrators he also arbitrates labor disputes.
