Jaime Huling Delaye, JD ’09, Receives Two Awards for Litigation Work

Jaime Huling Delaye, a deputy city attorney with the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office, received two high-profile legal industry awards this year for her work on the complex and affirmative litigation team. She was recognized with the Daily Journal’s 2023 California Lawyer Attorney of the Year (CLAY) award for her role in San Francisco’s landmark trial against opioid manufacturers, distributors, and Walgreens pharmacy for their role in creating the city’s opioid epidemic. The bellwether trial from the opioid MDL has yielded over $350 million to help San Francisco respond to the substance use crisis.

She also was awarded the International Municipal Lawyers Association (IMLA) Amicus Service Award for the on-the-merits amicus brief to the U.S. Supreme Court on behalf of a coalition of local governments in U.S. v. Hansen. That case, decided in the Court’s 2022-23 term, addressed the First Amendment’s protection of speech encouraging undocumented immigration.
