John Walsh, JD ’86, Elected District Attorney for Denver

John Walsh, who served as Colorado’s top federal prosecutor from 2010 to 2016, took office as Denver’s elected district attorney in January 2025. Walsh has moved in and out of government service since graduating from Stanford Law. After a stint in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California in Los Angeles, he returned in 1995 to Denver, his hometown, and became a partner at Holland & Hart. Later, he joined litigation boutique Hill & Robbins before being appointed U.S. attorney for Colorado by President Barack Obama in 2010. After leaving that post in 2016, he became a partner at WilmerHale, and then successfully ran for Denver district attorney in 2024.
