Juan Sabater, JD ’90, Appointed to Financial Oversight and Management Board for Puerto Rico

Juan Sabater, a partner and co-president of private equity firm Valor Equity Partners, was appointed by President Biden to serve as a member of the Financial Oversight and Management Board (FOMB) for Puerto Rico. The Board consists of seven members, and Sabater is the presidential appointee, with the remaining members appointed by Congress, as well as one ex officio member designated by the Governor of Puerto Rico. The FOMB is tasked with promoting economic growth in Puerto Rico.

Sabater is also co-chair of Augeo Affinity Marketing along with SLS classmate David Kristal, JD ‘90, Augeo founder, co-chair and CEO.

A native of Puerto Rico and resident of New York City, Sabater serves on numerous boards for academic, arts, charitable, and professional organizations, as well as several corporate boards. Sabater was one of the founding board members of My Brother’s Keeper Alliance, an initiative addressing the opportunity gaps faced by young men of color and now part of the Obama Foundation. Previously, Sabater was appointed by President Biden to the Board of Visitors to the U.S. Military Academy. He was formerly an officer in the United States Army Reserve.
