The Board of Governors appointed Leah Williams ’00, CEO of Strategies, LLC, to the State Bar of California’s Council on Access & Fairness in March. Williams, a leading policy strategist and community activist, will assist the council in addressing issues of diversity and access to justice. Duties outlined in the mission statement of the council include advising the board on strategies to enhance diversity opportunities, such as appointments to State Bar entities, and advancement in the legal profession, which encompasses employment and retention in the profession. As William summarized, “The council serves a critical function in ensuring that the legal profession reflects the diversity of our state.” She added, “I am honored to join such a distinguished group of attorneys, judges, and education leaders.”
