Facebook appointed Pamela Karlan, the Kenneth and Harle Montgomery Professor of Public Interest Law and co-director of the Supreme Court Litigation Clinic, and Michael McConnell, the Richard and Frances Mallery Professor of Law and director of the Constitutional Law Center at Stanford Law School, to the company’s Oversight Board, which will provide a new model of content moderation for Facebook and Instagram. McConnell will serve as co-chair and Karlan will be a member of the new independent board, joining members selected from around the world to review Facebook’s content decisions and make binding determinations about allowable content.
