Sarah Manney, JD ’24, Serving as Global Affairs Advisor to Canada’s Prime Minister
Less than two years out of Stanford Law, Sarah Manney has advanced from a Senior Policy Advisor to Canada’s Minister of International Trade to Director of Policy, and now, as of October 2025, Global Affairs Advisor to Canada’s Prime Minister Mark Carney. In this role, she helps to shape Canada’s engagement in multilateral fora, deepen bilateral relationships, and set strategic foreign policy directions for the country. For example, she recently joined the Prime Minister at the ASEAN and APEC summits, helping to advance free trade negotiations with more than a dozen partners in the region.
“My Stanford Law education has equipped me to navigate changing global norms and geopolitics, challenging assumptions and driving decision-making on complex questions,” Manney said.
