The Stanford Law chapter of the Federalist Society was awarded a “Feddie” last spring by the national organization in recognition of its status as one of the most active chapters in the country. The chapter was also chosen to host this year’s national student conference, “Bureaucracy Unbound: Can Limited Government and the Administrative State Coexist?” Scheduled for early March, it is expected to bring some 400 students, leading scholars, and judges from across the country to campus. The chapter hosted more than 25 events last year, all of them widely attended, with highly regarded participants in debates and conversations including such notables as Jack Goldsmith, Keith Hennessey, Judge Alex Kozinski, Michael Lewis, Michael Chertoff, and Justice Samuel Alito (the last two events with the national organization and Silicon Valley Lawyers).

“With hundreds of Federalist Society chapters at law schools nationwide, it’s a real honor to win the Feddie and to be chosen to host this year’s conference,” says SLS Federalist Society President Barbara Smith, JD ’12. “The Stanford chapter of the Federalist Society strives to host events that challenge students to think critically about legal, political, and social issues by exposing them to intellectually serious perspectives.” Learn more about the organization.
