Getting Reimbursement for Family

We worked with an eighth-grade special education student and his mom to obtain reimbursement after his school district failed to provide home-based instruction for two months. When we met the clients, the student had just been transferred to a new school, following a suspension. His school agreed to provide at-home instruction in the two months that he was awaiting placement but the at-home instructor repeatedly failed to provide sessions. As a result, the student’s mother hired a private tutor – paying out of her own pocket and significantly impacting the family’s financial situation. We wrote a demand letter and successfully negotiated with the district to fully reimburse the family for their expenses.
