Legaltech West: Standing Room Only!

Legaltech West: Standing Room Only!
Roland Vogl

Wow, wow and more wow. O.K., I’m hopelessly biased but our day-long track at Legaltech West was an absolute blast. We had standing room only for all three of our hour-long  programs where startups had five minutes to present their product/service, and then about five minutes for the “judges” to give feedback (and audience questions). It was like a cross between “Shark Tank” and “American Idol,” and executive director Roland Vogl kept the proverbial trains going on time so that all the scheduled startup got their time at the microphones.

“The startups, each of which were given exhibit space in the CodeX Pavilion at Legaltech West, demonstrated an eclectic array of products and services, covering cost management, e-learning and contract analysis, wrote Erin Harrison, the Editor-in-Chief of ALM’s Legaltech news (the successor to Law Technology News) about the morning session.

Among the many strong startups were:

SupportPay, by Sheri Atwood (founder and CEO)—which helps parents handle child support in a manner that minimizes friction.
HotShotLegal, presented by Ian Nelson (co-founder) which is a series of short videos to help train lawyers.
• CEO Cian O’Sullivan’s Beagle (scroll down to see his interview).
•  ClearAccessIP: Nichole Shanahan, CEO & founder.

(Watch for more profiles on this blog in the near future.)

Late last year, CodeX and ALM created a partnership. From the enthusiasm of the participants and audience at Legaltech West (in San Francisco at the Hyatt Regency) it seems that the partnership is thriving. (Special thanks to Henry Dicker, ALM’s vice president, global events, and his fabulous team!)
