I love April 1. Not only because it means we’re only three days away from the New York Yankees’ opening day, but also because the daffodils and tulips are starting to bloom in Carl Schurz Park (Gracie Mansion) on NYC’s Upper East Side—and it’s my beloved brother and sister-in-law’s wedding anniversary.  April 1 celebrates wit, silliness, humanity and creativity. And every once in a while, for at least a quick moment or two, we get fooled!

Here are three legal tech 2016 gems—and one bonus update!

1.  Press Release from Rocket Matter: Headline: “[YUUUGE] Tesla Model 3 / Rocket Matter Integration.” (The ‘yuuuge’ should be a big hint!) “Together at last! Rocket Matter and Tesla integrate in a major step forward for legal technology. Our “Bill as you Drive” technology is going to change the game!

” …Each new Tesla will ship with favorite Rocket Matter goodies such as a Rocket Matter-branded Snuggie®, lip balm, a set of chattering teeth, and a spring-loaded Rocket Matter-branded snake instead of a driver side airbag. Each Tesla’s touchscreen will feature Rocket Matter’s powerful time and billing technology and automatically track time and distances covered while driving.”

The “highly informative” press release is here.

Blame this one to CEO Larry Port, who wrote the funniest story I ever published when I was editor-in-chief of ALM’s Law Technology News.  If you have LexisNexis you can access “Macho & Mulch: Choosing a Hybrid in Southern California is a Very Nuanced Adventure.”

2. kCura Relativity Match Maker: Isn’t It Time to e-Discover the Love of Your Life?
The Relativity Blog reported the launch of Relativity Match Maker. “Imagine a dating app with all the key features you need for e-discovery. Find a dating profile that you like, but maybe isn’t quite perfect? Use the related items pane to find similar profiles and grab that diamond from the rough.” It comes with an hilarious video. Hat tip: David Horrigan, E-Discovery Counsel and Legal Contect Director at kCura.

3.  PinHawk Legal Tech Daily Digest

Meanwhile, the PinHawk Law Technology Daily Digest reported that “NetDocuments and the newly independent iManage and host the new product as a service in Azure. The plan is to merge them with MatterCenter for a truly global, cloud-based document and matter management system. The code name I’ve heard associated with this new project is NetManageMatters.”

Jeffrey Brandt

LTDD also reported that Dentons was expanding into outer space, and that editor Jeffrey Brandt was turning over the management of the blog to Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders.

Details on all three items here.

4. Election Insurance from Esurance

I’ve been muttering for months now that I will move to Canada if a certain bully becomes president. Turns out I’m not alone. The aformentioned Jeffrey Brandt just turned me on to election insurance from Esurance. Click here! (Adweek).

“To everyone out there that has uttered the statement, “I am leaving the country,” or, “I’m moving to Canada,” if insert-presidential-candidate-name-here wins the election, Esurance has got you covered.”

“Homeowners can choose between standard policy options that include weekly home maintenance and premium options such as the ‘holiday overachiever,’ which gives you piece of mind knowing your holiday lights and yard decor will keep up with the Joneses. There’s even a platinum option that simulates a teenage breakup to give your home an authentic lived-in feel,” the press release reads.”

Alas, it was just another April 1 dream. : )

Monica Bay has interviewed Hillary Clinton (that is actually true), but Monica is very happy that she never had to interview Donald Trump. She does confess that she watched the first season of The Apprentice.
