Ian Lopez, a reporter at Legaltech news, today wrote that nominations are now open for the second annual Monica Bay STEM Leadership Award. The award recognizes leadership and the advancement of women in legal tech.

“Legal tech is a burgeoning industry, and amid the tide are many notable women making strides in law, technology, and the various points where the two intersect,” he wrote. “With thought leaders like Google’s Mary O’Carroll and BDO’s Judy Selby leading innovations across the industry, women comprise a major presence in the world of legal technology, and with female-led efforts like CLOC, women’s accomplishments in the space increase by the day.”

“We need to continue to raise the level of awareness for women in leadership and the potential for women to take on leadership roles within legal related to technology specifically but certainly not limited to a technical role,” [said] Judith Flournoy, CIO at Kelley Drye.

“Reviewing award applications will be an independent panel, who will consider both continuing efforts and previous achievements involved in the advancing of women in the legal tech world,” Lopez wrote.
