July 27: Epiq Systems has been purchased by DTI Investors:  “Total value of the deal: $1 billion; price: $16.50/share. In a Securities and Exchange Commission filing this morning, Epiq announced that it has entered into an agreement to be purchased by the owners of Document Technologies Inc., wrote Warren. After the close, “Epiq will combine with DTI to form a single, private entity, according to a release accompanying the SEC filing,” he wrote.

Epiq’s offerings include integrated technology and services for the
legal profession, comprised of e-discovery, managed services, bankruptcy, class action and mass tort administration, federal regulatory actions and data breach responses.” DTI provides legal process outsourcing and litigation offerings, as well as services in risk and compliance, e-discovery and court reporting.

July 28:Catalyst Hires John Barr as New Company President.” Barr, (left) previously worked as COO of Yieldex, and know oversees operations, development and internal management, Warren reported. “His software engineering background as well as experience as CTO and COO of several growing technology companies made him a perfect candidate to help manage Catalyst’s growing operations and free me up to focus on our clients and strategic initiatives both here and in other parts of the world,” said CEO John Tredennick.

 

July 22:EDRM Co-Founder and E-Discovery Expert George Socha Joins BDO Consulting” as managing
director in BDO’s Forensic Technology Services practice.

“In his new position, Socha said that he will be advising clients primarily on e-discovery, information governance, data analytics, and other related issues.”

“He also will work closely with BDO’s leadership team to set strategy and grow the consultancy’s practice,” wrote Warren.
