The latest edition of the Law Technology Now podcast (Legal Talk Network) features CodeX Fellow Jay Mandal, who describes himself as “an entrepreneur, executive and lawyer.” Mandal is now Vice President of Corporate Development and Strategy at SAP, after selling LawPivot (he was Co-Founder and CEO) to RocketLawyer. Before that, Mandal was the lead mergers and acquisitions lawyer at Apple. He “began his career as a corporate and securities lawyer at Brobeck and Pillsbury,” said Mandal, who received his J.D. from U.C. Berkeley and B.A in Economics from Stanford. (He also was a Fulbright Scholar to India.)

Startup Bootcamp for Lawyers 2

In April, right after the fifth annual CodeX FutureLaw (2017), Mandal and CodeX Fellows Jose Fernando Torres Varela and Susan Salkind launched the first Startup Bootcamp for Lawyers, limited to 25 Stanford Law School students. They received more than 100 requests to participate, including students from other disciplines.

(Disclaimer: I was delighted to participate at the Bootcamp as a mentor, advising the startups on how to attract the media and avoid mistakes.) It was an amazing experience!)

Mandal discusses the bootcamp, and his trajectory, here.
