Got a startup? It’s not too late to submit your startup at The Pitch 2018! (Apply by Feb. 23.)
“The Pitch is an exciting competition for companies hoping to change the way we do law. Join us on May 1, 2018 in Toronto, ON, to watch the top finalists compete—and make their pitch to judges and potential investors—in front of a live audience,” says The Canadian Bar Association, which is powering the event along with Law Made and LexisNexis.
“The Pitch” will take place on the last day of CBA’s conference, “Beyond Borders: Business And Law In The Global Village,” (April 29-May 2, 2018).
The 2018 event is a global competition, says CodeX Fellow Jason Moyse (left), a manager of legal business options for Elevate Services —”a next generation legal service provider helping law firms and corporate legal departments improve efficiency, quality and outcomes through consulting, managed services, technology and talent.
Moyse is also the co-founder of Law Made — an agency serving Legaltech startups and corporates to help the digital David’s and enterprise Goliath’s dance together through access to capital, clients and markets.
• Loik Amis, Chief Executive Officer, LexisNexis.
* Mark Cohen, Chair, Elevate Advisory Board and Chief Strategy Officer; Distinguished Fellow, Northwestern Law; Forbes regular contributor;
(At this time):
• All five finalists will be offered an interview with Nextlaw Ventures. The first place winner will spend time with the Nextlaw Ventures managing director, Dan Jansen,
and will demo her or his offerings with selected subject matter experts for valuable input.
• Up to $120k of free IBM Cloud and Watson Cognitive Computing services for 12 months along with other technical support.
THE 2016 WINNERS
I had the honor of being a judge in 2016, and it was a blast!
Cian O’Sullivan, (left), also a CodeX Fellow, was the winner for his Beagle Inc.
Said O’Sullivan: “The Pitch was a critical cold shower to the legal industry… Wake Up!! Fantastic Tech is here to help.
Being part of, and winning, such an event has paid immense dividends in relationships, opportunities, and most important, making an industry aware of what is out there. Participating gets you talked about at every legal water cooler in the country, and beyond.”
Runner-ups were Adam La France (Knomos); Benjamin Alarie (Blue J Legal); and Mona Datt (Loom Analytics).
