Substantive legal filings were automatically downloaded and analyzed, and useful case law automatically sent directly to attorneys’ inboxes. This session discusses the early success and pitfalls of this novel approach to legal research.”

Patrick DiDomenico: Chief Knowledge Officer, Ogletree Deakins.

Author of the book “Knowledge Management for Lawyers,” published by the American Bar Association, DiDomenico has been in the legal knowledge management industry since 2005. He is the recipient of the 2013 International Legal Technology Association (ILTA) Knowledge Management Professional of the Year Award. Patrick also serves on the firm’s Technology Strategy Committee, Research & Development Council, and Innovation Summit Committee. Read the full information here.

Marlene Gebauer: Director of Knowledge Solutions, Greenberg Traurig.

Gebauer is the Director of Knowledge Solutions at Greenberg Traurig. Previously a practicing lawyer, she transitioned into a legal information professional and has had roles in research, outreach and education, procurement, licensing and management. Her current position revolves around adoption and application of innovative legal service technologies and process. She is responsible for knowledge management, product and service testing and creation, strategic purchasing, predictive analytics, competitive intelligence and research services. Jake Heller: CodeX Fellow; Founder and CEO, Casetext.

Heller is the founder and CEO of Casetext, which pairs free legal research and publishing. He was president of the Stanford Law Review and a managing editor of the Stanford Law & Policy Review. Heller clerked for the Honorable Michael Boudin, United States Court of Appeals, First Circuit. Jake then became a litigation associate at Ropes & Gray. He’s been programming since he was nine and worked full-time as a web developer before law school.

Jean O’Grady: Sr. Director of Information, Research & Knowledge, DLA Piper.

O’Grady has over 30 years of experience developing strategic information initiatives for Am Law 100 law firms. She holds a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law, an M.L.S. from St. John’s University and a B.A. in History from Fordham University. O’Grady is a member of the New York State Bar. She has previously held Director positions at WilmerHale in DC and Shea & Gould in New York.  Read the full information here.

Jeffrey Rovner: Managing Director for Information, O’Melveny & Myers.

From his office in Newport Beach, Rovner directs the firm’s information functions, including technology, knowledge management, library, and records. In 1996, he created what a formal knowledge management function inside a law firm. Since then, his specialty has been the artful application of technology to the practice of law. One of his recent software applications at O’Melveny – called OMMLit – received first-place innovation awards from the Financial Times, The Recorder, and London’s Legal Week.
