THE PRESENTERS
David Colarusso, Director, Legal Innovation & Tech Lab, Suffolk University Law School.
He is the Director of Suffolk University Law School’s Legal Innovation and Technology Lab. An attorney and educator by training, he has worked as a public defender, data scientist, software engineer, and high school physics teacher. He is the author of a programming language for lawyers, QnA Markup; an award winning legal hacker; an American Bar Association’s Legal Rebel; and Fastcase 50 honoree. In 2017 he was named one of the ABA’s top legal tweeters.”

Ashkon Farhangi, Student, Computer Science, Stanford University.
Ashkon is a Master’s student in the Computer Science department at Stanford, a CodeX Fellow and a product manager at Google. At Stanford, he focuses on machine learning and its applications to natural language processing. He also acts as a teaching assistant. At Google he works on the company’s flagship search advertising products. Ashkon previously graduated from Stanford with a B.S. in Computer Science. While there as an undergraduate, he ran the Stanford Blyth Fund, a student-run investment group managing part of the Stanford endowment. In his free time, Ashkon enjoys skiing recklessly, cheering on his favorite soccer teams and playing chess.
Margaret Hagan, Director, Legal Design Lab; Lecturer, Stanford Institute of Design (the d.school)
“She was a fellow at the d.school from 2013-2014, where she launched the Program for Legal Tech & Design, experimenting in how design can make legal services more usable, useful & engaging. She teaches a series of project-based classes, with interdisciplinary student groups tackling legal challenges through user-focused research and design of new legal products and services. She also leads workshops to train legal professionals in the design process, to produce client-focused innovation. Margaret graduated from Stanford Law School in June 2013.” Read here for more information.

‘He teaches Quantitative Analysis for Lawyers, Litigation {Data, Theory, Practice, & Process}, Entrepreneurial Lawyering, and Lawyer Ethics and Regulation in a Technology-Driven World. Dan is also an adjunct professor at the University of Michigan Law School, where he teaches Negotiation and Legal Technology & Innovation: Legal-Service Delivery in the 21st Century.” Read here for more information.

Nichole Shanahan, CodeX Fellow; Founder & CEO, ClearAccessIP.
“She is an attorney in California and a research fellow at CodeX. She is the founder and CEO of ClearAccessIP, an integrated patent management technology, and a legal technologist who specializes in the utilization of structured databases, APIs, UI/UX, automation and SaaS. Her research at Stanford is entitled “Smart Prosecution,” an ongoing, multi-disciplinary project applying data science to the prosecutorial process and involving partnerships with district attorneys and police departments. Apart from the practical applications of legal technology, she is formulating an economic theory entitled ‘Coasean Mapping’ to predict the pace and nature of society’s adoption of legal artificial intelligence.”
Bart Verheij, CodeX Affiliated Faculty; Associate Professor and Chair, Artificial Intelligence and Argumentation, University of Groningen.
“He has published extensively on artificial intelligence and law research. He currently is president of the International Association for Artificial Intelligence and Law (iaail.org). He has been a resident fellow at Stanford University in the CodeX Center for Legal Informatics.
