THE PRESENTERS

Larry Bridgesmith J.D., is CEO and Co-founder of Legal Alignment and a practicing lawyer in Nashville, Tenn.

“Larry has been listed as one of America’s Best Lawyers, among the Leading Lawyers for American Businesses and SuperLawyer. He is an honorary invited member of the International Academy of Mediators. Larry has practiced in the fields of labor, employment and dispute resolution for more than 30 years and served in management roles for boutique and mid-sized law firms throughout his career. He founded Lipscomb University’s Institute for Conflict Management and served as its inaugural Executive Director. He holds a Six Sigma Green Belt certificate in quality control and efficiency management. Larry is an adjunct professor in legal project management, conflict management and mediation at Vanderbilt University School of Law, Belmont University Massey Graduate School of Business, The Nashville School of Law and the Albany Medical School Alden March Institute for Biomedical Ethics. He coordinates the Program on Law and Innovation at Vanderbilt School of Law.” Read more here.

 

Kate Didech, is an attorney, urban planner, and Fellow at CodeX: The Stanford Center for Legal Informatics. She serves on the board of Next City, a non-profit with a mission to inspire social, economic and environmental change in cities through journalism and events around the world.

Kate explores how regulations that govern the built environment can be made more comprehensible, navigable, accessible and actionable. Her interest in leveraging technology to make cities more livable grew out of her experience working with and for local government. This experience includes helping launch Flux Metro, a web-based application that renders 3D visualizations of the maximum buildout permitted under local zoning ordinances. Kate has also assisted cities and counties across California on long-range city planning, zoning, and urban design matters; planned parks for the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department; and brought litigation to advance economic and social justice for the residents of Santa Clara County. She received a B.A. from Stanford, a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, and a Certificate in Landscape Architecture from U.C. Berkeley Extension.

 

Guido Governatori is Senior Principal Researcher and Team Leader, Data61, CSIRO, where he leads the Legal Informatics Research Team.

Guido received his PhD in Legal Informatics from the University of Bologna. His research focuses on the use of logic and formal models for the representation of norms. In particular he has developed conceptually sound and computationally oriented approaches to legal reasoning that have proved suitable for practical applications (for example in the field of business process compliance, and e-contracts). He served on the executive board of the International Association for Artificial Intelligence and Law, and has been the program chair of conferences such has DEON (Deontic Logic in Computer Science), Jurix (Legal Knowledge and Information Systems) and ICAIL (International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Law). He is a co-chair of the OASIS LegalRuleML technical committee, and the editor of the Deontic Logic corner of the Journal of Logic and Computation and the Agents and Norms section of the Artificial Intelligence and Law journal.

 

Amanda Ostrowitz: Chief Executive Officer & Founder, CannaRegs.

Amanda is a regulatory attorney and entrepreneur specializing in marijuana regulations and banking law. Prior to conceiving, developing and founding CannaRegs, Amanda worked as a bank examiner in the Denver branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City.

Amanda is an east coast native who moved to Colorado in 2004 to attend Colorado College where she earned a B.A. in Economics. Amanda received her Juris Doctor from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 2013. Amanda serves as Chief Executive Officer and Founder of CannaRegs.
