Women of Legal Tech: Christy Burke

Update added Aug. 26.

Christy Burke is the our latest  Women of Legal Tech, and the timing was great! (August 1).

Burke explained that she has just “joined the Legal Technology Media Group (LTMG) Collective, a legal marketing consulting/coaching program which helps legal vendors succeed at marketing and business development. The LTMG Collective builds upon the success of the LTMG Mastermind program launched in March 2018 by Chelsey Lambert (CEO/Founder of LTMG) and Cathy Kenton (chair, Legal Vendor Strategies, LLC). LTMG Collective members include Lambert (tactical marketing), Cathy (strategic marketing), lawyer Jared Correia (thought leadership/white papers) and me (PR writing and media relations).”

CODEX EXTRAS

Here are four bonus questions exclusive to CodeX:

Where do you want to be in five years, 10 years? In five years, I’d like to be in a position to dedicate 25% of my work hours to pro bono projects and philanthropic efforts to assist at-risk women and children, arts endeavors, and international aid organizations. In 10 years, I’d like to build upon this work further and increase or even double my bandwidth to make more of a difference.

Balancing tips: Be militant about your need to have a personal life. Some workplaces will not support this and you will be pressured to work beyond what your health and quality of life can tolerate.  If your job is keeping you from having a balanced life spending quality time with people you love, and you have zero time to do activities you enjoy, maybe it’s time to find a different job.

Dress codes? Dress presentably if you’ll be around business colleagues, even if it’s in a social setting. During  ILTACON, don’t dress down too much even though others are going casual.  Remember that you’re still representing yourself and your company or firm.  And if you’re at a booth demonstrating software all day, opt for the comfortable shoes rather than the strappy sandals.  Your feet and back will thank you for it!

Secret to your success: A combination of hard work, determination, building and maintaining good relationships, creativity, a positive attitude and wonderful clients have all contributed to what I have achieved.  Also, I have had a lot of go luck and the strong support of family and friends.
