Ahmed Elsisi
Biography
Ahmed Elsisi is counsel in Sidley Austin LLP and member of its Global Arbitration, Trade and Advocacy practice group in New York, where he focuses on international arbitration. He represents foreign investors, multinational corporations, and State-owned entities in international arbitration and cross-border disputes.
Mr. Elsisi has nearly 20 years of experience in dispute resolution ranging from serving in a judicial capacity, providing legal counsel to government, and working with international organizations and arbitral institutions. He began his career as a member of the Egyptian judiciary, adjudicating foreign investment and tax disputes, and later advised the Ministry of Investment on legal matters.
Prior to joining private practice, Mr. Elsisi served as legal counsel at the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) in The Hague, where he handled State-to-State, investor-State, and contract-based arbitrations. He also advised the PCA Secretary-General on institutional matters and UNCITRAL appointing authority requests. His international experience further includes working at the United Nations Office of Legal Affairs in New York, the Appellate Body Secretariat of the World Trade Organization in Geneva, and the World Bank in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Elsisi is trained in both civil and common law systems and is admitted to practice in New York and Egypt.
