Biography
Amit Itai is a John M. Olin Fellow in Law and Economics and a JSD candidate at Stanford Law School. His current research focuses on drug prices and the interface between patents, pharmaceutical regulation, and antitrust. More broadly, Amit is interested in the relationship between intellectual property, market dynamics, and regulation, as well as the effects of this interplay on the ecosystem that facilitates and fosters innovation.
Prior to Stanford, Amit worked for several years as a senior IP counsel at a leading international pharmaceutical company, and as an associate at a top-tier Israeli law firm. Amit has gained significant experience by providing legal counsel for startups and Fortune 500 companies as well as universities and international organizations on a wide range of IP and technology-related legal issues, both in Israel and abroad.
Amit holds law degrees from Tel Aviv University and Stanford Law School. During his studies, he has served as a research and teaching assistant in a variety of classes, was an editorial board member of several law journals and books, and won multiple awards for his academic achievements. Amit was also a member of Hoover IPĀ² Working Group on Intellectual Property, Innovation, and Prosperity at the Hoover Institution, and was part of a research delegation to the Max Planck Institute in Germany.
