Biography
Michael Bommarito is a researcher, adjunct professor, and serial technology entrepreneur. As a researcher and educator, he focuses on the application of natural language processing, machine learning, and simulation to the practice of law and public policy. He has published broadly on topics including predicting Supreme Court decisions, the impact of Supreme Court decisions on public markets, measuring the size and complexity of US laws and rules, agent-based simulations of environmental policy, and citation or treaty networks. His work has been published in leading journals such as Science, Plos One, Journal of the Royal Society Interface, Journal of Statistical Physics, Frontiers in Physics, Physica A, Proceedings of the ACL, and Artificial Intelligence & Law. He is also the author of Legal Informatics (Cambridge University Press 2021). In industry, he was previously co-founder and CEO of LexPredict, a legal technology company which successfully exited in 2018, and he is currently the CEO of 273 Ventures, a legal data operating system company.
