Biography
Tom Melling is the CEO and co-founder of Safari SOP, an online served document management platform for corporate law departments. Safari SOP enables companies to capture all served documents in one centralized system, automate routing, and use purpose-built solutions for responding to subpoenas, levies, and account garnishments.
Prior to founding Safari SOP, Tom co-founded and became president of Serengeti Tracker, one of the first online electronic invoicing and matter management solutions for corporate law departments. With Tom’s leadership, Serengeti became one of the world’s most widely used invoicing and matter management solutions, and was acquired by Thomson Reuters in 2010.
Prior to his career as a legal technology entrepreneur, Tom practiced law at Perkins Coie in Seattle, Washington. His practice emphasized Internet and e-commerce law, specializing in electronic contracting, public key infrastructures, encryption, and data protection.
Tom received a B.A. in civil engineering from Brown University, graduating magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. His law degree is from Stanford Law School, where he was a member of the Stanford Law Review and was a fellow at the Stanford Center on Conflict and Negotiation. After law school Tom clerked for Judge Jerome Farris, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
