From Wildfires to National Security: A Fireside Chat with Muon Space’s Chief Legal Officer
Wildfires can blaze out of control in minutes. Muon Space is helping to spot them from space by building FireSat, a wildfire-monitoring satellite constellation developed with Earth Fire Alliance and Google. Founded in 2021, Muon has become one of the fastest-scaling companies in the world that designs, builds, and operates satellite constellations for climate, commercial, and national security customers. Earlier this year, Muon also opened a new advanced manufacturing facility in San Jose.
Join the Stanford Space Law Society, the Santa Clara University Space Law Society, and the Space Law Society at the University of California, Irvine, for a fireside chat with Shirley Paley, Chief Legal Officer of Muon. At Muon, Shirley oversees legal, regulatory, and governance strategy. Before entering the space industry, she was the Chief Legal Officer at 3D-printing company Formlabs and held senior legal roles at several high-growth tech companies.
In this event, we will discuss the legal decisions that shape a space startup, such as raising capital, contracting with government and commercial customers, and scaling a company. Founders, engineers, or students curious about space are all welcome to join. No legal or space background required.
