Reconciliation and Resistance: Literatures and Cultures of Human Rights

- This event has passed.
This symposium explores the aftermath of human rights violations in culture, as well as the effects of cultural production on law and policy. With a non-exclusive emphasis on Latin America and an interdisciplinary law & literature focus, the symposium brings together a cutting-edge group of scholars. Some of the questions to address include: how does literary form contribute to conceptualizing human rights? To what extent is a critique of the legitimacy of human rights necessary in present-day debates?
