The SLS BAA Conversations with Faculty virtual event series will feature Professor Ron Tyler, Professor of Law and Director of the Criminal Defense Clinic at Stanford Law School. Professor Tyler will be in conversation with recent SLS graduate, Lisa Muloma, JD ‘21.
Ron Tyler is a Professor of Law and Director of the Criminal Defense Clinic at Stanford Law School. Professor Tyler’s scholarly agenda focuses on self-care skills for lawyers and criminal practice and procedure. His most recent publication in 2021 is “Criminal Practice, A Handbook for New Advocates,” 1 st Edition, (Foundation Press) (co-authored with SLS Prof. George Fisher and UCLA Prof. Ingrid Eagly). In 2020, his blog post for the SLS Legal Aggregate, “Police Use of Force, Training, and a Way Forward After the Death of George Floyd” (co-authored with Criminal Defense Clinic Associate Director Suzanne Luban) yielded national and international media exposure.
Lisa Muloma, JD ’21 is known by her friends as the one who asks questions: the sort who waits patiently for the ambient noise at a dinner party to die down for a second, before jumping in with “So how’s everyone feeling about this phase of life? What did you imagine it would be like, and how does the reality compare?” Groans ensue, but she continues pressing, and usually golden nuggets of conversation result. Indeed, this interest in stories, the stories of friends and strangers alike, is what finally compelled the young English major to apply to law school. Lisa will be clerking for Judge Keith Ellison in the Southern District of Texas before pursuing work as a public defender.
We hope you will join us for this special opportunity to meaningfully connect with SLS faculty!
