Maria Rocha Barros (SLS LLM CGP, 2007) and Anne-Kathrin Kroemer (SLS SPILS, 2007) share their experiences about the transition from biglaw to in-house, from two different perspectives: working for a multinational company vs a Silicon Valley startup.

Topics will include: what a career as in-house counsel looks like, what makes for a successful in-house lawyer, the biggest challenges of going in-house, how to choose the right company, and the best moment to make the jump.

Maria Rocha Barros is the Vice President of Legal & Corporate Affairs Europe (General Counsel Europe) of Anheuser Busch InBev, the leading global brewer, best known for its brands Stella Artois, Budweiser and Corona. Prior to joining AB-InBev, Maria worked at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett in New York, where she advised on M&A, IPOs, bond offerings, syndicated credit facilities and pro bono matters.

Anne-Kathrin Kroemer is Senior Director, Legal at Rubrik, Inc., a cloud data management company in Palo Alto, CA. She previously held various inhouse legal positions at different size companies after having worked as a corporate associate at Skadden Arps in Palo Alto.
