Practical Skills to Combat Human Trafficking
@ SLS: Room 190 Crown Quadrangle 559 Nathan Abbott Way, StanfordPlease join SLS GiVe, WSL, and the Human Trafficking Institute for a series of trainings on how to combat human trafficking during your legal career. Lawyers working as judicial clerks, law firm associates engaged in pro bono work, prosecutors, public defenders, and legal services providers will all encounter human trafficking cases and survivors during their work, so we want to make sure you are as prepared as possible. These trainings will include information on mandatory restitution that you can help survivors get as a judicial clerk, social service needs and how to connect survivors to them, the kinds of pro bono cases you can seek out at a law firm, victim-centered approaches to prosecution of traffickers, vacatur and expungement of criminal charges related to trafficking, and identification of persons being trafficked.
There will be four trainings, two at 4 PM and two at 4:45 PM. Coffee will be provided. Following the trainings, there will be a keynote reception at 5:30 PM in the Law Lounge (Russo Commons) with light refreshments.
