Lawyers working as judicial clerks, law firm associates engaged in pro bono work, prosecutors, public defenders, and legal services providers will all encounter human trafficking cases and survivors during their work, so we want to make sure you are as prepared as possible. These trainings will include information on mandatory restitution that you can help survivors get as a judicial clerk, social service needs and how to connect survivors to them, the kinds of pro bono cases you can seek out at a law firm, victim-centered approaches to prosecution of traffickers, vacatur and expungement of criminal charges related to trafficking, and identification of persons being trafficked.
There will be four trainings, two at 4 PM and two at 4:45 PM. Coffee will be provided. Following the trainings, there will be a keynote reception at 5:30 PM in the Law Lounge (Russo Commons) with light refreshments.

SLS against Gendered Violence presents a screening of Cyntoia's Story

When she was 16, Cyntoia Brown was convicted for murdering the man who purchased her for sex. The governor of Tennessee commuted her sentence to 15 years, scheduling her release for August 2019. The film will be followed by a brief discussion.
