Human Rights Pro Bono Project

Description:

The Human Rights Pro Bono Project (HRPBP) partners with the SLS International Human Rights and Conflict Resolution Clinic (IHRCRC) to help protect and advance the protection of human rights all around the world.

Participants will carry out tasks such as research, legal writing, and advocacy in support of human rights projects, in partnership with the International Human Rights and Conflict Resolution Clinic (IHRCRC). The IHRCRC is housed within Stanford Law School’s Mills Legal Clinic, and provides students opportunities to engage in the practice of thoughtful, creative, and critical human rights lawyering and advocacy in partnership with impacted communities and civil society while in law school.

HRPBP projects support the work of human rights advocates and NGOs around the world. Work may fall into a variety of substantive areas, in line with the IHRCRC’s broad practice areas: peace and justice; rights across borders; equality and non-discrimination; and climate justice.

Commitment Required of Members:

Each student must commit to a minimum of 15 hours per quarter of project work, but may engage with the project in one, two, or all three quarters. There is no maximum level of engagement.
