Biography
- Avery Bick is a geospatial data scientist specializing in the synthesis and analysis of socio-environmental data. He is currently a Sustainable and Humane Food Systems Research Fellow with the Climate and Energy Policy Program (CEPP).
- Previous projects include mapping heat-related illnesses across California, projecting sea level rise impacts across income brackets, and applying bioacoustics and automation to track bird biodiversity at national scales. He previously worked in environmental engineering, focusing on bioremediation of nitrogen and heavy metals. Overall, he hopes to contribute to a more equitable and livable world for society and nature alike.
- His other interests include music, multimedia art, and art theory, as well as yoga, meditation, and weightlifting. He produces and performs music under several monikers and was also a member of Stanford Laptop Orchestra.
- Avery is a PhD Candidate in Computer Science at the Norwegian Institute for Nature Research (All But Dissertation) and holds a M.S. in Environmental Engineering & Science from Stanford University (2018) and a B.S. in Environmental Engineering from the University at Buffalo (2014).
