Biography
Jenny Zhao is a Clinical Supervising Attorney and Lecturer in Law at the Immigrants’ Rights Clinic. She trains clinical law students to engage in individual representation and systemic advocacy on behalf of immigrants facing removal from the United States. Jenny’s practice focuses on representing immigrants who are threatened with detention and removal based on criminal convictions. She has litigated cases in the federal courts establishing constitutional protections for individuals detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement. In addition, she has represented individuals in complex removal cases before the immigration courts and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
Before joining the Immigrants’ Rights Clinic, Jenny was a Senior Staff Attorney and managed the Immigrant Rights Program at Asian Americans Advancing Justice – Asian Law Caucus, where she advocated for and worked alongside communities disproportionately impacted by policing and immigration enforcement. She began her legal career as a Liman Public Interest Fellow at the ACLU of Northern California. Jenny holds a B.A. from Stanford University and a J.D. from Yale Law School.
