Legal Education for Adolescents Project (LEAP)
Description:
LEAP aims to educate and mentor low-income youth impacted by the juvenile justice system about their fundamental rights under the law.
Commitment Required of Members:
New members will need to complete background checks in Fall Quarter, but work won’t begin until Winter Quarter (and will continue through about half of the Spring Quarter). You will be visiting a participating location (juvenile hall or a high school nearby) once a week for approximately 2-3 hours (including travel). In winter, there will be three training sessions for new facilitators with FLY, which is the largest time commitment (around 20 hours total). Lessons will be provided for facilitators, and each team will have a member of FLY staff there to manage the site.

Winter Start: All work will start in the Winter Quarter (but new participants will need to complete a background check in the Fall Quarter)
Eligible for Meeting NYS Bar Pro Bono Requirement: Unlikely
Language Ability Preference: None; Spanish Valued
