Legal Education for Adolescents Project (LEAP)

Description:

LEAP works with the Bay Area nonprofit Fresh Lifelines for Youth (“FLY,” founded by Christa Gannon, JD ’97) to provide weekly lessons on legal rights to at-risk youth in local high schools and juvenile detention facilities.

Commitment Required of Members:

Approximately 3 hours per week (teaching the class, including transportation to and from the site), and approximately 10 hours of additional trainings with FLY staff throughout the quarter.


Open Membership Spots: 16

Adv. Degree Student Participation: Permitted

Winter Start: New members are required to participate in training and clearance application in the Fall Quarter. Teaching won’t begin until Winter Quarter.

Eligible for Meeting NYS Bar Pro Bono Requirement: Unlikely

Language Ability Preference: No language requirements, but Spanish may be useful.
