Biography
Matthew Yelovich is the Appellate Chief in the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of California. In that role, Matt oversees all government briefing and argument at the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in federal criminal cases arising out of the Northern District of California, and he directly supervises a section of dedicated appellate AUSAs and paralegals. Before joining the San Francisco office, Matt was an Assistant United States Attorney in the White Collar Crime group of the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of California, where he regularly investigated and tried complex frauds and served as Public Corruption Coordinator. Matt previously worked as an associate at a law firm in New York, and clerked for the Hon. Reena Raggi of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. He is a graduate of Columbia Law School, where he was a James Kent and Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar, and Duke University, from which he graduated with honors. He currently serves as an Appellate Lawyer Representative with the Ninth Circuit and an adjunct professor at the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco.
