Biography
Runhua Wang is Associate Professor at the University of Science and Technology Beijing (China). She teaches intellectual property cases and laws, contract law (Chinese), and academic legal writing in English. Her research interests are in the areas of intellectual property, innovation policy and management, and law and technology. Her research employs empirical methods, law and economics theories, and comparative analyses.
Professor Wang was Visiting Yong Shook Lin Professor of IP Law at National University of Singapore in August 2024. Between 2018 and 2020, she was Empirical IP Fellow at Chicago-Kent and taught (Academic) Legal Writing, Introduction to IP, and Corporate Finance. Prior to joining Chicago-Kent, she was a short-term invited researcher at the Institute of Intellectual Property in Tokyo, Japan, in 2018. From 2016 to 2018, She worked at the University of Illinois College of Law as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate. She was also a Thomas Edison Innovation Fellow (2018–19) sponsored by George Mason University. Professor Wang received her LL.M. and J.S.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law.
Professor Wang has written four books in Chinese: The Fourth IP: Trade Secret Protection in the U.S., Intellectual Property Publishing House (2021); Introduction to the Theories of Legal Protection for Intellectual Property, Intellectual Property Publishing House (2022), etc. She has published in American Business Law Journal, Minnesota Law Review, Buffalo Law Review, Journal of Small Business Management, Technical Forecasting and Social Change, etc. The primary topics of her publications cover the efficiency of the U.S. IP laws, Chinese tax and IP subsidy policies, and China’s guiding case system on innovation. Professor Wang is admitted to the bars in the State of New York and China. She is a WIPO ADR Young Member. She also runs a Wechat Official Account twitting IP-related news weekly. She joined TTLF as an Affiliate in September 2024.
