New Executive Directors
After 12 years at The Deborah L. Rhode Center on the Legal Profession, most recently as its executive director, Lucy Ricca has transitioned to the Neukom Center for the Rule of Law to serve as its executive director. She is working with Professor Diego Zambrano, the Neukom Center’s faculty director, to grow and shape the interdisciplinary center, which promotes research, teaching, and experiential learning to advance the rule of law in the United States and globally.
Malka Herman has joined as executive director of the Rhode Center, a national leader in research and scholarship on the civil justice system, legal ethics, and the legal profession. Herman brings expertise at the intersection of research and practice, with a focus on strengthening pro bono work in law firms, improving access to justice in immigration courts, and addressing attorney misconduct.
Stanford Law also recently welcomed Irene Liu as executive director of the school’s AI Initiative. Previously a lecturer at UC Berkeley School of Law, Liu also has served as an AI advisor to the California Senate and in chief financial and legal roles with several Bay Area technology companies, including Hopin and Checkr.
