Thomas Fenner, JD ’76 (BA ’73), Wins Kenneth M. Cuthbertson Award

Thomas Fenner was honored as a 2021 recipient of The Kenneth M. Cuthbertson Award for Contributions to Stanford University. Fenner was recognized at the Stanford Commencement Ceremony on June 13, 2021—and received a congratulatory call from Stanford President Marc Tessier-Lavigne.

Fenner, deputy general counsel in the Office of the General Counsel, was noted “for his ability to build warm and engaging rapport, even while navigating delicate and difficult legal and ethical considerations.” He was commended “for his remarkable memory and his mastery of the intricacies of the law” and “for his strong sense of empathy, which fuels his efforts to achieve positive outcomes.”

Fenner was also honored “for his deep institutional knowledge and his constant dedication to the university’s mission.”

The Kenneth M. Cuthbertson Award honors exceptional contributions of all types to Stanford University. The award is open to all members of the Stanford community and recognizes extraordinary contributions to achieving Stanford University’s goals.
