Stanford Prison Abolition and Resources Coalition (SPARC)

The Stanford Prison Abolition and Resources Coalition (SPARC), is an organization dedicated to supporting and advocating for incarcerated individuals and their families. Our goal is to provide meaningful opportunities for students to get involved with the prisoners’ rights movement and to engage the SLS community about topics relating to incarceration.

SPARC students currently work with Prisoner Legal Services (PLS) in San Francisco Jail to provide pro bono legal services to prisoners. PLS provides prisoners with legal assistance on criminal, conditions of confinement, custody, and release matters. SPARC students volunteer with PLS twice a week, focusing on providing services to folks in solitary confinement.
