Biography
Ticien Marie Sassoubre writes and teaches at the intersection of law and other ways we represent our experience, like novels, graphics, and film. She teaches courses on visual persuasion, legal argument and analysis in their cultural and historical contexts, and narrative in American fiction and law. Her publications range from close readings of the influence of property relations on personal identity to disclosing the connections between legal reasoning and the filmic imagination in 20th century America. Before joining Stanford Law School in 2008, Ticien was a Lecturer in Residence at the UC Berkeley School of Law from 2003 to 2008, where she taught in the undergraduate Legal Studies program as well as the law school. She received her Ph.D. from the Stanford English Department in 2001 and was a Post-Doctoral Scholar in the Stanford English Department in 2002-2003.
