Breaking News: LexisNexis/Lex Machina Launch Accelerator

This morning, LexisNexis announced “the launch of a new legal tech accelerator in Silicon Valley designed to give startups a leg-up in the rapidly expanding legal tech industry.”

The LexisNexis Legal Tech Accelerator program will be based in the Menlo Park offices of Lex Machina  and will be led by its CEO, Josh Becker, with support from LexisNexis Chief Technology Officer Jeff Reihl; Chief Product Officer Jamie Buckley; Vice President of U.S .Product Management Jeff Pfeifer; and Lex Machina Chief Evangelist Owen Byrd, the press release said. The accelerator program will provide space for up to three people for three months.

“Lex Machina has deep roots in Silicon Valley,” said Becker in the press release. “Being actively involved in Stanford University’s CodeX program, and having begun as a Stanford project before spinning off as a startup, we know first-hand the struggles that legal tech and other Silicon Valley startups go through. That’s why we’re proud to be spearheading this incredible opportunity and bringing this much-needed resource to the startup community.”

LexisNexis will be providing access to its legal data, tools and technologies. The accelerator will also provide mentoring via weekly hands-on sessions with Becker and other LN executives on topics such as growing legal tech companies, technology and product development and building culture, the press release noted.

 

The accelerator will also educate startups on “selling to legal departments and law firms; running an agile product development organization; leveraging legal data; best practices in customer success, marketing and fundraising.” It also will “leverage relationships with Stanford University and other leading Bay Area schools, businesses, venture capitalists and influencers.”
