General Information

Visiting Scholar Eligibility

For information about eligibility for becoming a Stanford Law School Visiting Scholar, please visit this page.

Visiting Scholar Access and Borrowing

Appointments for greater than 90 days

Visiting Scholars appointments that are greater than 90 days are eligible to receive a Campus ID Card per Stanford Administrative Guide 2.4.3.2.h. As a Campus ID cardholder, you may borrow unlimited material from all campus libraries and you have physical access to the Law Library during normal operating hours.

Appointments for less than 90 days

Visiting scholar appointments that are less than 90 days do not qualify for a Stanford University ID.  Instead, you may be eligible for a short-term visiting scholar library card that will give you library privileges at Stanford Libraries. Short-term visiting scholar cards do not grant privileges to the Law Library, to our services, or to our physical or online collections. Short-term visiting scholars are usually not affiliated with the Law School, but may have privileges at other campus libraries.
